ABOUT MUNRO'S FURNISHINGS

Munro’s Furnishings began in 1978 in Maple, Ontario by Janet and Bill Munro under the name of Pine By Munro Inc. Specialization in solid pine furniture expanded to include hardwoods such as quarter sawn oak, red oak and maple. The Canadian family business now operates as Munro’s Furnishings.

Munro's Furnishings left the Flea markets in 1987 after opening their showroom and factory at the Innisfil Beach Road and Hwy 400 location in 1986. Between 1986-1995 Munro's expanded on the Innisfil Location twice and Opened a second Retail location in Schomberg, Ontario.

Due to slow traffic flow in November 2007 Munro's closed their Schomberg Store.


In 2014 the Munro's Furnishings Location in Innisfil was sold. Bill and Janet had decided that they were ready to retire and relax a little and their daughter Jill and her husband Jesse, were ready to take the reins. Due to the building condition, the economic changes and Bills health, selling the Innisfil building was the best thing for Munro's Furnishings

In February 2015 the doors were closed at Munro's Furnishings Innisfil Inc. ( Hwy 400 & Innisfil Beach Rd. Location) owned and operated by Bill & Janet Munro.

On March 2, 2015 Jill & Jesse Munro Opened Munro's Furnishings Barrie Inc. at 526 Bryne Drive Barrie, Ontario and started manufacturing at 87 Hooper Road Barrie. Janet Munro still plays a great part in the business.

Bill was diagnosed with lung cancer on November 6 2014 and was informed in January 2015 that it was stage 4 and inoperable.On May 26, 2015 after a short battle with lung cancer Bill Munro, co founder of Munro's Furnishings (Pine By Munro), died surrounded by family at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Center.

On March 2, 2018 Munro's Furnishings celebrated their 3 year anniversary.

Munro’s Furnishings takes pride in the fact that the fundamental concepts have not changed throughout the years. Those core essentials include; all items are built by their craftsman by hand, from of solid wood and quality construction. Drawers are dovetailed front and back and have double fronts. The backing is of tongue and groove construction and is made of the same wood as the item. Mortise and tenon joints are used in the assembly of all case goods. Table posts are made of solid wood and table skirts are steam bent to fit the table.

Since conception, Munro’s Furnishings customers have valued the solid wood construction, supreme quality and simply knowing that the fine furniture is made in Canada. All of Munro’s furniture is made at the factory in Barrie, Ontario and finished at their showroom location in Barrie.

An appreciation of having each piece made to order to the customers specifications including style, stain and handle choice to suit their lifestyle has been some of Munro's Furnishings strongest attributes. In addition, Munro’s Furnishings provides the latest trends in home accents to complement their furniture. These key aspects have led them to become a well-respected leader in the fine furnishings industry.
